The Posy series is my newest idea and may become a breakaway series from Highways and Byways.
I have always enjoyed collecting little bundles of wildflowers to press and dry in books that get very little use; that way, when I open a neglected book, I get a sweet little surprise and quite possibly a memory.
A few weeks ago, a posy from a recent road trip fell out of my sketchbook onto my desk, and I thought, What if I painted the place where I picked this posy? I remembered the location immediately, and I had plenty of photo references because it was a place that had been dear to me many years ago.
So I tried it. Then I tried it again. Both times, I fell completely in love with the process. I’m excited to see where the idea rambles and to build larger, more ambitious pieces around it.
