I made a mini greenhouse system to sprout my seeds for this year’s plantings. One of my favorite things to eat are peppers, especially pickled, stuffed and marinated.
The greenhouse is made with an egg carton and a two-liter soda bottle cut in half. I filled each cavity in the carton with potting soil mixed with a handful of buckwheat hulls. The hulls allow for a little aeration; the soil is rich with compost. I put 2-3 seeds in each cavity and covered with a little soil mix. Then I cut the top and bottom off of a 2-liter soda bottle and then cut it in half. I placed the narrow side at the ends and overlapped them in the middle to create a nice little greenhouse.

Hice un sistema para tener un invernadero pequeño a brotar las semillas para la sembrada de esto año. Unos de mis cosas favoritas a comer son pimientos, especialmente encurtido, rellenado y adobado.
El invernadero se hizo con un cartón de huevo y un botello de refresco cortar en medio. Rellené cada cavidad con suelo mezcla con vainas de los alforfónes. Las vainas permitan el ventilación; el suela es rico con compost. Pongo 2 a 3 semillas en el cavidad y cubrierlos con suelo. When the sprouts are ready, I will put them directly in the ground, carton and all. The carton will compost and the root system of the plant can flourish undisturbed.

Another method of home made greenhouse is using jars or plastic containers & plates. In this case, I have several “jiffy pots” to sprout seeds in, then covered them with a variety of materials. On the left is an egg carton with soda bottle greenhouse. On the top right is a small plate with a plastic container; below that is a glass jar & plate combination, and below that are some jars and ramekins. You can see the condensation even on cool and cloudy day such as today.

Una otra manera a hacer los invernaderos esta por usando los tarros o contenadores de plastico con las placas. En esto caso, tengo algunas “jiffy pots” a brotar mis semillas. Después estoy cubrirlos con los materiales varios. En el izquiera es un invernadero hizo por cartón de huevo y botella de refrescas. En el arriba de derecha es una placa con una contenador de plastico; abajo es una placa con un tarro y abajo eso está algunas fuentes pequeños con tarros.
