Back Seat Stories

Back Seat Stories is a series of monoprints where I elicit childhood memories from the back seat of a car. My family moved frequently; I had trouble catching my environment long enough to examine it intimately.

The series developed out of passages: a year-long study. Through that project, I recalled my experience of the American West: long rural stretches cut by suburban oases with nothing much to do but count stationary objects and dream of homes with people who never moved. Using this imagery, I look to evoke an unrequited longing to settle.
